Our main office is located in historic Hudson, New York, in Columbia County – within the Hudson River Valley. Survey Technician

Position Description

We are looking for a survey technician with GPS skills to join the growing survey team in our Hudson, Columbia County office. Crawford & Associates’ Land Surveying Division specializes in boundary and topographic surveys, subdivisions, ALTA surveys, aerial ground control and construction layout.

The Survey Technician position requires a combination of field work in various weather and site conditions and office work including deed research and analysis, processing of raw field data, survey calculations and mapping. The ideal candidate will have had exposure, either through work related experience or classroom instruction to GPS surveying, traditional surveying methods, boundary analysis and cad drafting. An Associates’ degree in survey technology is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will also be team oriented; have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Crawford & Associates would welcome and support anyone working towards their LS license.

Civil AutoCad Drafter

Position Description

We have openings for a Civil AutoCad Drafter to join our team to work with engineers and designers in developing project plans for a wide variety of projects including site development, solar development and building structural and HVAC system design. The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoCad through education and/or experience. The ideal candidate will be diligent, self-disciplined, demonstrate a high attention to detail. The ideal candidate will also consistently work to understand task requirements through direct communication with team members. The position offers the opportunity for increasing levels of responsibility in project execution.

Qualifications

Proficiency in Autocad
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience
Familiarity with the civil engineering/construction industry a plus

Early Career Civil/Site Design Engineer

What We Need From You

  • Have a BS or MS in Civil Engineering and 0-5 years experience.

What You Will Do

  • Typical assignments may include site inspections and assessments, project strategizing and problem solving, engineering calculations and analysis, drawing development using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, project correspondence including email, letter and report writing and construction observation.

  • Typical areas of assignments include site development including grading, stormwater management, water and wastewater planning and design, environmental permitting and environmental analysis and more.

Solar Design Engineer

Position Qualifications

  • Entry Level or 1 – 2 Years of experience with BS Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power

  • Strong interest in the solar energy field and motivation for self-learning

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and juggle multiple tasks

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD (a plus but not required)

  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others

  • Desire to grow technically and professionally and continually expand beyond one’s zone of comfort

  • Willingness to relocate

Position Description

The successful engineering candidate will join our Civil/Electrical Engineering department to support low to medium voltage electrical design of community and utility scale solar energy systems. The new employee will work directly with civil and electrical engineers in laying out solar arrays, specifying electrical equipment and conducting cost-benefit analyses for a variety of solar developer clients. Our solar projects are generally located on greenfields and brownfields throughout the United States. Our work typically supports developers in the site selection, design, permitting and construction of solar energy systems. Specific tasks may include calculating energy yields using PVSyst; creation of engineering drawings and single line diagrams of system designs using AutoCAD; and review of RFIs during construction.

Experienced personnel will provide the training, instruction and support necessary for a new team member’s growth and success.

The position will allow for the right individual to gain the experience and skills to make a significant contribution to the transition to the renewable energy future. Staff at C&A are given the opportunity to develop a solid and varied skill set perfectly suited to support those with the goal of becoming a Professional Engineer (PE). Staff additionally progress in terms of responsibility from task ownership to project ownership including interacting with clients and regulatory agencies based on skill development, communication skills and growth in professional maturity.
